Make Your House Feel Like Home with These Little Changes

By Ryan Dicharry Construction - 9-30-2021

A new home is just bursting at the seams with possibilities! And while you may have grand ideas for renovations and improvements, a house is a big financial investment that your bank account may need a moment to bounce back from. But that doesn’t mean that you must wait to put your own personal touch on your new house. Here are some budget friendly suggestions that can turn your house into a home in a jiff.

Start with Your Front Step

Give your new home an inviting face by arranging some potted plants on the patio or hanging a beautiful wreath on the door. Painting your front door a color that you love can also bring a smile to your face every time you arrive home. Maybe place a beautiful doormat down or even one with a quirky message. Or try updating the number plates on your house. All of these can be cost effective ways to add your own style to your abode.

Swap Hardware

Drawer pulls and cabinet knobs are seemingly small supporting pieces. Something that is often overlooked. But your house hardware can provide an opportunity for you to bring some of your personality in. Simply trading in your old, dated handles and knobs for sleek, modern ones can make a huge impact. Or if you like the shape of the ones, you already have but hate their finish, you can spray paint them. There are spray paints available in a variety of finishes, from matte to hammered steel.

Utilize Contact Paper

Updating an old kitchen or bathroom is always high on the list of popular renovations. But these types of projects usually come with expensive price tags that your budget may not be able to make room for yet. You can satisfy your aesthetic and budget at the same time by taking advantage of contact paper. Contact paper is cheap, easy to install, and easy to remove. You can update backsplashes, counters, and even furniture this way. From marble to subway tile, you are sure to find a design that speaks to you.

Game Day Guacamole

By Ryan Dicharry Custom Homes - 9-16-2021

It’s National Guacamole Day and that’s a huge reason to celebrate! Here at Ryan Dicharry Custom Homes we love snacks just as much as gameday. With football season in full swing, we are so excited to share with you a super quick and easy recipe that’s perfect for every crowd. Let’s get started!

For this recipe you will need:

  • Avocados (cut in half with the skin off; quantity depending on crowd)

  • Cilantro (to taste)

  • Lime (to taste)

  • Garlic Salt (to taste)

How we did it:

After we layed out all of our yummy ingredients, we gathered and cut our avocados in half. Remove the skin and discard while leaving the avocados in your bowl. Begin mashing slightly then add in your cilantro. Once added, mash and with a spoon, fold the mixture to ensure ingredients are dispersing through the entire bowl. Lastly, add your lime and garlic salt and repeat the previous step! Taste your creation and adjust as needed. Once finished you should have a yummy game day dip that the whole family can devour!

We love to hear from you! Shoot us a message and tell us if you’ve tried our easy guacamole. As always, geaux tigers and who dat from Ryan Dicharry Custom Homes.
